Additional information

Factory-issued notgeld from a mechanical shoe manufacturer in Presseck, a small town in upper Franconia. These private industrial tokens proliferated across Germany during the acute small-change shortages of 1917–1921, when state minting capacity couldn't keep pace with wartime and postwar demand. Iron was the material of necessity — copper and nickel had long since been redirected to the war effort.
