Obverse description Central field bears the heraldic shield of the city of Pillau, depicting a crowned sturgeon swimming to the left above stylized waves, the shield surmounted by a mural crown of five towers. The legend 'STADT' appears vertically along the left field and 'PILLAU' vertically along the right field, flanking the arms. A beaded border encircles the entire design, with the engraver's initials 'HK' visible at the base of the inner border.
