| Obverse description | Central design features a large sheaf of wheat rendered in fine relief, with the stalks fanning outward symmetrically below and the grain heads spreading across the upper field. A horizontal banderole bisects the design, bearing the two-line Fraktur motto 'Sich regen bringt Segen' (Diligence brings blessing). The entire design is contained within a rope or beaded border, with the Berlin Mint mark 'A' appearing at the bottom of the field below the sheaf. The composition is executed in a bold, decorative Art Nouveau-influenced Weimar-era style by engravers Oppenheim and Kullrich. |

In 1922, German industrial output was being consumed by reparations obligations under Versailles, and the Reichsbank was losing the inflation battle entirely. Several pattern compositions were tested for subsidiary coinage that year as authorities scrambled for a stable, cost-effective alloy — aluminium-plated copper being one of the more experimental proposals. It went nowhere; within months the denomination itself became economically irrelevant.
