| 背面描述 | Octagonal reverse with a continuous beaded inner border. The large bold numeral '50' dominates the central field, rendered with fine horizontal line engraving within the digits to give a ribbed decorative effect. The legend KLEINGELD arcs across the upper portion of the border and ERSATZ across the lower portion, indicating this is a small-change substitute token, each separated by a small raised star ornament. |

Oehringen's zinc notgeld issue of 1917 belongs to the first wave of German municipal emergency coinage, forced into existence by the near-total disappearance of silver and copper from circulation as the Imperial war economy consumed base metals wholesale. Zinc was itself a strategic material, which is why many of these municipal pieces were later recalled and melted — survivors are more common than wartime authorities intended.
