Obverse description Brown and pale blue letterpress vignette of the Völkerschlachtdenkmal (Monument to the Battle of the Nations) in Leipzig, rendered in a bold graphic woodcut-like style, occupying the upper central portion of the note. The title GUTSCHEIN appears in large Gothic lettering across the top, followed by text identifying the issuing Notgeld exhibition in Leipzig with validity dates from 27 August to 4 September 1921. A multi-line redemption notice in cursive script fills the lower panel, with the designer credit reading Entwürfe: "Werbe" R. Fuchs at the foot.

Reverse description Printed in deep blue and black, the reverse carries the year 1813 in bold script at the upper left, alluding to the Battle of the Nations fought at Leipzig. The central vignette shows a silhouetted cloaked figure rising dramatically from a stylised mass of soldiers or waves, rendered in an Expressionist graphic manner. The denomination 50 Pfennig 50 is set in large decorative numerals and script at the foot, with the legend Lieder ohne Worte in italic lettering across the midfield.
