| 背面描述 | The reverse is bounded by a continuous outer pearl border, within which the circular legend NOTGELD 1921 arcs along the upper periphery. The central field depicts a scenic view of the ruins of Wolfstein castle, rendered with rocky outcroppings, vegetation, and architectural remnants in low relief. At the bottom of the field, a small rectangular cartouche contains the inscription RUINE WOLFSTEIN, identifying the depicted landmark. |

Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz issued this zinc notgeld piece during the acute small-change shortage that plagued Bavarian municipalities in the early 1920s, when hoarding of metal coinage and postwar supply disruptions left local economies functionally unable to make change. Zinc was a pragmatic choice — cheap, available, and already familiar from wartime emergency coinage — though it corrodes aggressively, which explains why surviving examples in clean condition are harder to locate than mintage figures might suggest.
