Opmerkingen

Kreis Ziegenrück was one of the smallest administrative districts in Thuringia — a narrow strip of land along the Saale valley with a population that barely justified its own currency. The Ziegenrück notgeld issues of 1921 came late in the municipal emergency money wave, by which point many German towns were printing collector-oriented series as much as genuine circulating currency. Whether these actually passed between hands in Krölpa's shops or went straight into philatelic envelopes is a fair question.

The Wiedemannsche Druckerei in Saalfeld handled a number of Thuringian notgeld commissions during this period, operating close enough to the issuing districts to turn around small runs quickly.
