Comments

Kreis Ziegenrück was one of the smallest administrative districts in Thuringia, and its notgeld output reflects that — modest print runs, local printer, purely functional. The Wiedemannsche Druckerei in Saalfeld handled a considerable volume of Thuringian emergency money during the 1920–1922 notgeld wave, making them a reliable regional workhorse rather than a prestige house.

Blankenberg itself was a village of negligible economic weight, which is precisely why this note exists: the post-war coin shortage hit rural Thuringian communities disproportionately hard, forcing even minor district subdivisions to issue their own scrip.
