正面描述 The central vignette presents the municipal coat of arms of Eisenach — a haloed armoured saint holding a flag and a palm frond, with a shield bearing a red cross — set against a teal heraldic field, flanked by detailed pen-and-ink landscape vignettes of the Wartburg castle to the left and the Eisenach town skyline with its characteristic church towers to the right. The year '1521' is printed in large numerals across the middle register, referencing Luther's arrival at the Wartburg. The denomination 'Fünfzig Pfennig' appears in bold Gothic script in the lower left and right corners, with three handwritten signatures below the commemorative text, attributed to the Oberbürgermeister, Stadtrat u. Kämmerer, and Stadtrat u. Geh. Rat.

备注

Issued in 1921 to mark the 400th anniversary of Luther's appearance before the Diet of Worms, this Notgeld series was a deliberate act of civic promotion by Eisenach — the city where Luther attended school as a boy and where the Wartburg looms above the skyline. The Luther Jubilee provided dozens of German municipalities with a pretext to issue commemorative small-change notes, but Eisenach had a more legitimate claim than most.

The handmade paper with watermark is worth noting: J. Adolf Schwarz in Lindenberg im Allgäu was a specialist printer whose Notgeld output often used higher-grade stock than the mass-produced issues flooding the market that year. The watermarked handmade paper on this series is an uncommon specification for 50-Pfennig emergency currency.
