The Mittelstands-Wirtschafts-Genossenschaft — roughly, the middle-class economic cooperative — was one of dozens of commercial and trade associations across German-speaking Austria that resorted to issuing their own Notgeld in the early 1920s as small-denomination coinage effectively vanished from circulation. This was a cooperative instrument, not a municipal one: its acceptance was limited to member businesses in and around Linz, which sharply constrains how widely it could have circulated.
The Jaksch/Pick reference JPR0550-50 places it within the documented Austrian commercial Notgeld series, though surviving examples are sparsely catalogued.
