At upper left and right, cartouches identify 'Serie III' and 'Gruppe E'. A central circular vignette presents a photographic-style view of Schloss Schwarzburg set amid forested hills, overlaid at lower centre with the small Thuringian lion shield. The denomination '50 Pfennig' appears in Gothic script to the left of the vignette, flanked by the inscription 'Thüringer Burgen Schwarzburg'; below the vignette, a four-line verse in Gothic type reads 'Ja, ein tiefes Sehnen füllet / Mir das Herz, gedenk ich dein, / Traute Stätte, waldumhüllet, / Schwarzburg, heller Edelstein!'
