背面描述 Printed in black and red on cream paper within a red and black decorative border, the reverse carries the denomination "50 Pfg. 50" in large red Gothic numerals within a ruled panel at the upper portion. The central vignette, executed in bold woodcut-style line work, shows three coal miners viewed from behind, lamp in hand, advancing toward a pit shaft entrance framed by timber pit props — an evocative reference to the Ruhr mining industry. A rectangular text panel in Gothic script at foot bears a four-line verse alluding to the nocturnal descent into the mine.
背面铭文 50 Pfg. 50

备注

Langendreer — now absorbed into Bochum itself — was an industrial village at the heart of the Ruhr coalfield, and the printer F. A. Gimmerthal operated there as a local commercial house rather than a specialist banknote firm. The Kreis-Ausschuss issued this note under the emergency currency provisions that proliferated across Germany from 1914 onward, accelerating sharply in 1921 as coin shortages worsened and municipal bodies scrambled to fill the gap left by an overwhelmed Reichsbank.

Landkreis Bochum was administratively distinct from the city of Bochum itself — the Kreis surrounded but did not include the urban municipality, a jurisdictional quirk that explains the separate issuance rather than a unified city note.
