The Landeskrieger-Verband Lübeck was an association of war veterans — men who had returned from the First World War into an economy offering them little stability and less cash. German municipalities, cooperatives, and private organizations issued emergency currency (Notgeld) throughout the early 1920s as the Reichsbank struggled to keep small denominations in circulation. This note is one of those pieces: locally printed by Gebrüder Borchers, a Lübeck commercial printer, for use within the association's own membership network.
Notgeld from veterans' organizations is less common than civic or municipal issues, and the Lübeck series is a minor one.
