The Konsum-Anstalt der Kruppschen Gußstahlfabrik was the company store cooperative run by Krupp's Essen steelworks — a vast internal economy that at its peak served tens of thousands of workers and their families. Krupp issued its own scrip not merely for convenience but to anchor workers within the company's controlled retail network, where wages paid in Krupp coupons could only be spent at Krupp stores.
