Pößneck's 1921 Notgeld series was known locally as the "Industry Series" because each denomination depicted a different trade or manufacture — unusual for a small Thuringian town, which more typically issued scenic or heraldic designs. The city was a center for shoe manufacturing and leather goods, industries that had weathered the war years badly and were struggling against rampant inflation by the time this note entered circulation.
Kühlborn was a local press, not a specialist banknote printer. That matters: registration and color consistency across the series vary noticeably, and the paper stock differs between known print runs.
