| Obverse description | The obverse is printed in blue and red on cream paper, enclosed within a double-line rectangular border. A large double-headed eagle vignette in red-black occupies the centre, overlaid by the bold blue numeral '50' in Gothic style. The heading 'Notgeld der Stadt Arnstadt' appears in red Gothic script across the top, with 'Pfennig' rendered in blue Gothic lettering below the eagle. The lower left carries a validity notice in Gothic script, the year '1921' appears at the bottom centre, and a serial number with red series letters is printed to the lower right alongside a manuscript signature of the Magistrat. |
