| Obverse description | Blue and red letterpress Notgeld on cream paper, with a wave-line guilloche underprint filling the central field. A large red double-headed eagle vignette occupies the centre, overlaid by the bold blue numeral '50' in Gothic style, with the denomination legend 'Pfennig' below in matching blackletter script. The issuer title 'Notgeld der Stadt Arnstadt' runs along the upper margin in red Gothic lettering, flanked by decorative scroll cartouches; the year '1921' appears at the bottom centre.
