| Obverse description | The octagonal zinc field bears the large denomination numeral '50' prominently at center, rendered in bold incuse relief. Surrounding the numeral, the circular legend reads 'KRIEGSGELD' to the left and 'HEILBRONN' to the right, separated at the top by a small Maltese cross ornament and at the bottom by a small decorative device. The design is stark and utilitarian, consistent with wartime emergency coinage production, with no extraneous decorative elements beyond the inscription and separating marks. |

| Additional information |
Heilbronn issued this zinc notgeld piece in 1918 as the German imperial coinage system buckled under wartime metal requisitioning — copper and nickel had been redirected to munitions production years earlier, leaving municipalities to improvise their own emergency currency in whatever base materials remained available. Zinc was among the least desirable options, prone to corrosion and surface oxidation, which accounts for why specimens in genuinely clean condition are harder to locate than the mintage figures alone would suggest.
