Standardwerk Wilhelm Schulze was a Hannover-based tool and hardware firm that issued zinc notgeld tokens during the acute coin shortages that struck German commerce between roughly 1916 and 1922. Municipal and private issuers alike turned to zinc, aluminum, and pressed fiber when the Reichsbank's metal supply was consumed by the war effort. Zinc was the practical choice — cheap, available, and just workable enough for small-denomination tokens.
