Obverse description A continuous pearl border frames the entire obverse. The municipal coat of arms of Gunzenhausen occupies the central field, depicting a fortified building or gatehouse with two flanking towers bearing pennants, set above a wavy base, all within a heraldic shield surmounted by a mural crown. The Latin legend STADT GUNZENHAUSEN arcs across the upper portion of the field in raised relief, flanking the crown on either side. Small decorative ornaments flank the shield at mid-height, adding a modest artistic flourish to this wartime notgeld issue.
