Beschrijving keerzijde Green and black vignette occupying the upper two-thirds of the note, illustrating a Thuringian forest scene captioned 'Forstwirtschaft i. Schmiedefeld': woodcutters labour among tall conifers, with felled logs and a horse-drawn cart in a wintry landscape framed by a decorative chain border. The denomination '50' appears in bold at upper left and 'Pfg' at upper right in Gothic script. Below the vignette, a light guilloche underprint panel carries a two-line verse in Gothic lettering.

Opmerkingen

Schmiedefeld am Rennsteig is a small Thuringian village sitting on the ridge line that historically divided Franconia from Thuringia proper — and in 1921, like hundreds of other tiny German municipalities, it was printing its own emergency money because the Reich simply couldn't keep up with demand for small-denomination coinage. The Graphische Werkstätten in nearby Ilmenau handled a significant volume of Thuringian Notgeld work during this period, which kept production costs low for communities that couldn't afford prestige printers.

The "green issue" designation distinguishes it from other Schmiedefeld 50 Pfennig printings of the same year — color differentiation was a practical editorial choice, not an aesthetic one.
