| Obverse description | The note is executed in multicolour letterpress with a decorative floral border of roses at the corners. Two circular vignettes occupy the centre field: at left, a polychrome view of the Jagdschloss (hunting lodge) of 1735 set in a landscape, captioned 'Jagdschloss 1735.'; at right, a detailed interior scene of the Goethe Room ('Goethezimmer') with period furnishings. Between the two vignettes at upper centre is a red circular seal bearing an equestrian figure and the legend 'Wirtshausschild am Weißen Roß', while at lower centre the circular municipal seal of the Gemeinde Stützerbach with a fir tree is impressed. The lower margin carries validity text and the issuing authority signature within a rustic log-frame cartouche. |

Stützerbach was a small glassmaking village in the Thuringian Forest where Goethe made repeated visits between 1776 and 1784, staying at the home of the Cammerherr von Stein. The municipality leaned hard into that association during the Notgeld period, commissioning a dedicated Goethe series at a moment when hundreds of German towns were treating emergency currency as a local branding exercise — and a modest revenue stream from collectors.
Designer M. Bechstein worked out of nearby Ilmenau, where Goethe also had documented stays, and the printing went to Wiedemannsche Druckerei in Saalfeld. A thoroughly Thuringian production.
