Obverse description Central field displays the arms of the city of Fulda: a helmeted armored knight's torso rising from a mural crown above two heraldic shields, the dexter shield bearing a cross and the sinister shield bearing a stylized lily or plant motif. The legend STADT FULDA curves along the left and right periphery in Latin characters, and the date 1917 appears in the lower exergual area beneath a horizontal bar. The overall design is executed in low relief with clean, functional engraving characteristic of German Notgeld issues of the First World War period.
