| 备注 |
Rothenburg ob der Tauber issued a substantial run of Notgeld between 1918 and 1922, and the town was unusually deliberate about commissioning local artistic talent for the series. Fritz Merbach was a regional artist and his involvement here was typical of the Bavarian municipal approach — town councils actively resisted the generic lithographic sets being churned out by Leipzig and Berlin print houses for dozens of municipalities simultaneously.
The Schafhof designation refers to one of the historic farmstead properties outside the old walls, grounding the note in local geography rather than national symbolism. Whether Merbach both designed and printed this piece, or supplied artwork to a commercial printer, is not firmly established in the secondary literature.
