| Beschrijving voorzijde | Octagonal zinc notgeld token with a continuous outer pearl border following the shaped flan. An inner pearl circle frames the central field, within which the large numeral '50' is prominently struck in relief. The surrounding legend, reading 'WACHTBERG I, WILHELMA, WINDLING' at the top and 'IN FRECHEN' at the bottom, is separated by two five-pointed star stops and runs between the outer pearl border and the inner pearl circle. The overall design is plain and utilitarian, consistent with German wartime and post-war emergency small-change tokens. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | Octagonal reverse with a continuous outer pearl border and, below the central device, four five-pointed star stops arranged in an arc. An inner rope circle encloses the central field, within which the large numeral '50' is struck in bold relief. The legend 'KLEINGELDERSATZMARKE' (small-change substitute token) arcs around the upper portion of the field between the pearl border and the rope circle, identifying the token's official purpose as an emergency fractional currency substitute. |

Frechen, west of Cologne, was one of the Rhineland's principal lignite-mining districts, and company-issued token coinage was common practice among the larger colliery operators well into the twentieth century. Tokens like this one functioned within closed pit-economy systems — redeemable at company stores and canteens, keeping worker wages circulating inside the enterprise rather than out into local commerce. Zinc was the material of wartime and shortage; its use here almost certainly dates this piece to one of the two World War periods rather than peacetime production.
