Reverse description The reverse features a large recessed rectangular cartouche with chamfered corners occupying the majority of the field, within which the bold denomination numeral 50 is prominently displayed above the abbreviation PFG. in capital letters. Flanking the cartouche on either side, the circular legend reads KRIEGS- to the left and NOTGELD to the right, together forming the compound word KRIEGSNOTGELD (war emergency money). Two small cross ornaments serve as punctuation marks at the top and bottom of the rim. The stark, typographic design reflects the utilitarian nature of wartime emergency currency.
