| Obverse description | The arms of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen occupy the central field: a heraldic shield bearing a key, flanked by two rampant lions acting as supporters, the whole surmounted by an ornate mural crown. The composition is rendered in bold relief with fine detail in the mane and paw work of the lions. A continuous beaded border frames the design along the coin's rim. The circular legend FREIE HANSESTADT BREMEN runs around the periphery, interrupted at the base by the mint mark J, denoting the Hamburg Mint. |
