The denomination '50 Pfennig' appears in large numerals to either side of the central vignette, with the issuer name 'Braunschweigische Staatsbank' in bold blackletter script across the lower portion and 'Braunschweiger Notgeld' arching along the top. Reverse description Blue and tan bicolour composition centred on a vignette of the Altstadtmarkt in Brunswick, with the spires of St. Martin's Church and the historic guild hall visible behind a tall ornamental fountain. Flanking the central scene are two vertical panels: at left, a medieval warrior figure labelled 'Alt-Braunschweig', and at right, a female allegorical figure labelled 'Alt-Stadtmarkt'. Inscriptions in Low German dialect run along all four borders of the central vignette, with the denomination '50 PF' repeated in the upper corners.
