| Obverse description | Grey-toned notgeld note with an ornate foliate border framing the entire composition. At centre, a circular red vignette bears the white rampant horse of Brunswick (the Saxon steed), set against a stippled guilloche ground. The denomination '50 Pfennig' appears in large numerals to either side of the central vignette, with the issuer name 'Braunschweigische Staatsbank' in bold blackletter script across the lower portion and 'Braunschweiger Notgeld' arching along the top. A manuscript signature appears at lower centre, with the printer's imprint 'Druckerei Appelhans, Braunschweig' at lower left. |
