| 裏面の説明 | The reverse carries a large polychrome vignette of a mounted cavalry soldier in blue uniform charging at full gallop with raised sabre, rendered in a bold illustrative style and attributed to the artist A. Leusch whose signature appears at lower left. The place name 'LANGENSALZA' is set in large capitals at top, with the commemorative battle date '27. JUNI 1866' immediately below. The denomination '50 Pf.' in heavy letterpress occupies the lower centre, and the composition is enclosed by a dotted guilloche border. |

Langensalza's 1921 Notgeld series belongs to the decorative "Serienscheine" boom, when hundreds of German municipalities issued thematic sets aimed squarely at collectors rather than cashiers. The Battle Series refers to the engagement at Langensalza in June 1866, when Prussian forces defeated the Hanoverian army — the last major action before Prussia absorbed the Kingdom of Hanover and accelerated German unification under Bismarck.
A. Leusch designed the series locally. The print date of 30 April 1945 is almost certainly a cataloging or data error — that date is the day of Hitler's suicide and weeks past any functioning municipal printing operation in Thuringia.
