| 裏面の説明 | A continuous pearl border frames the design. The central field features a forward-facing draped bust of Friedrich Fröbel, the German educator and founder of the kindergarten movement, rendered in moderate relief with shoulder-length hair and a cravat visible at the collar. The name 'FRIEDRICH FRÖBEL' is inscribed in a curved legend along the lower portion of the field, following the contour of the bust. |

Bad Blankenburg issued emergency coinage — Notgeld — during the acute coin shortage that followed Germany's defeat in 1918, when small-denomination metal currency had effectively vanished from circulation through hoarding and wartime disruption. This iron piece is one of several municipal issues from the Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt principality, a state that had itself ceased to exist by November 1918 when the ruling Günther Victor abdicated under revolutionary pressure, leaving towns like Bad Blankenburg to manage their own monetary stopgaps.
Iron was the material of necessity, not preference — copper and nickel had been consumed by the war effort years earlier.
