正面描述 The left panel carries a dark woodcut-style vignette with a large Gothic letter 'M' overlaid by a figure of a man digging, set against a foliate background, with a scroll banner below inscribed 'Stadt – Chronik'. A caption in a lighter panel at the foot reads 'Willst du diese haben, mußt du tiefer graben'. The right panel, framed by a rope-pattern border, bears the denomination '50' in red and 'Pfennig' in bold Gothic blackletter, followed by the text 'Notgeld der Stadt Mühlhausen (Thür.)', validity clause, and issue date 'den 1. 4. 1921', with facsimile signatures of the Bürgermeister and Stadtrat of Der Magistrat. Designer credit 'Entwurf v. M. E. Beyrer' and printer credit appear at the lower margins.

备注

Mühlhausen issued this note during the Notgeld flood of 1921, when hundreds of German municipalities were producing locally printed emergency currency partly out of necessity and partly for the collector trade. The Archive Series format — designed by M. E. Beyrer and printed locally by Chr. Gerlach — was explicitly aimed at the latter audience: themed sets sold to collectors rather than spent at market stalls.

Bach was born in Eisenach, not Mühlhausen, but served as organist at the Divi Blasii church there from 1707 to 1708 — a short tenure, but enough to anchor the civic claim.
