| 背面描述 | The denomination numeral 50 is rendered in large, bold raised digits occupying the majority of the plain field, presented in a simple sans-serif style without any additional inscription or decorative device. The field is flat and unadorned, framed by a continuous beaded border following the coin's periphery, consistent with the austere functional aesthetic of emergency coinage produced during the wartime scarcity period. |

Gebr. Knipping was a wire and chain manufacturer in Altena, a Westphalian town whose metalworking industry dated back centuries along the Lenne valley. Like many German industrial firms in 1918, they issued their own emergency coinage — Kriegsgeld — when the imperial monetary system could no longer keep small denomination coins in circulation, largely because copper and nickel had been requisitioned for the war effort. Zinc, being plentiful and cheap, became the default substitute.
The Menzel catalog distinguishes at least one variety under this type number, suggesting minor die differences across the run.
