| Reverse description | The large numeral 50 dominates the central field, enclosed within a rope circle denoting the denomination. The circular legend KLEINGELDERSATZMARKE arcs around the upper periphery within a beaded border, identifying the piece as a small-change substitute token. Three five-pointed stars are arranged along the lower arc between the rope circle and the beaded rim, serving as decorative separators. |

Algringen — the German name for Algrange — issued notgeld through the early 1920s when the town's administrative status was itself in flux. The territory had reverted to France after 1918, but the German-speaking industrial community around the local ironworks still operated within a transitional economic zone where small-denomination coinage remained chronically short. Zinc was the material of necessity, not preference; copper and nickel had been consumed by the war years before.
