Obverse description Dark blue ground with a red dotted border frames the central vignette, a silhouette of a decorative tiered fountain set within an arched pale rose panel. The denomination numerals '5' and '0' appear in large rose-toned figures at the upper left and right corners respectively, with the word 'PFENNIG' in bold letterpress below the vignette. The lower portion carries a Low German verse in Gothic script followed by the validity inscription and the issuing authority in larger Roman type, with a manuscript facsimile signature beneath.

Reverse description The reverse is printed in deep blue, green, and rose tones, with a large multicolour vignette occupying the upper three-quarters of the note. The vignette presents a view of Güstrow Palace (Schloss Güstrow), a Renaissance ducal residence, seen across a reflective body of water and framed by dark silhouetted tree trunks. The denomination '50 PFENNIG' and the legend 'BÜRGERGELD GÜSTROW' are rendered in large stylised letterpress characters across the lower portion of the note.
