正面描述 The note is divided into three vertical panels with ornamental borders throughout. The central panel carries a vignette of 'Meister Dell,' a half-length figure in period costume rendered in a woodcut style against a red scrollwork background, with the city arms of Würzburg below. The left oval cartouche bears the inscription 'Gutschein der Stadt Würzburg' and the right oval states the value 'über Fünfzig Pfennig,' with the serial number and issuing authority signature line 'Stadtrat Würzburg, 1. Bürgermeister' in the lower right; the artist's name 'Heinz Schiestl' appears at the foot of the central vignette.

备注

Würzburg's 1921 Notgeld issue came out of the same inflationary chaos that pushed hundreds of German municipalities to print their own emergency small-change scrip when coin metal became more valuable than face value. The Universitätsdruckerei H. Stürtz AG was a local academic press, not a specialist currency printer — its involvement was purely practical, a matter of who had the equipment and the paper.

Heinz Schiestl, a Würzburg-born graphic artist with deep roots in Franconian folk imagery and woodcut traditions, gave the series real artistic credibility in a genre mostly known for mediocre municipal clipart. His work is why Würzburg Notgeld is actively collected today.
