Comments

Leopoldshall was a small industrial town in the Prussian province of Saxony, its economy built almost entirely around the local potash mining industry. Like hundreds of German municipalities in 1921, the Magistrat issued Kleingeldersatz — small-change substitutes — because the national coinage supply had effectively collapsed under postwar inflation pressures. The Louis Koch printing firm in Halberstadt was a regional supplier for several such local issues in the area, which accounts for the shared typographic style visible across multiple Anhalt-region notgeld series from this period.
