Ziesar is a small town in Brandenburg, and its municipal savings bank — the Städtische Sparkasse — was among the thousands of local German institutions that issued Kleingeldscheine during the acute small-change shortage of the early Weimar period. Flemming & Wiskott in Glogau were prolific printers of Notgeld and handled enormous volumes of these municipal issues, which is partly why their output is so difficult to date precisely from printing evidence alone.
Quality control across Flemming & Wiskott's Notgeld runs was inconsistent; ink saturation and registration vary noticeably between sheets even within the same print order.
