正面描述 The obverse is framed by bold geometric borders on both flanks, composed of repeating square and circular motifs with star elements, with the denomination numeral '50' printed at intervals along each side. The upper portion carries the value inscription 'Fünfzig 50 Pfennig' in Gothic Fraktur lettering, below which the validity date 'Gültig bis 30. Sept. 1921' and the issuing authority 'Der Magistrat' appear above two manuscript facsimile signatures. A central vignette in the lower half presents a line-art illustration of Eilenburg Castle ruins atop a rocky hill under a moonlit sky, flanked at the base by the inscriptions 'NOTGELD' at left, 'DER STADT' at right, and 'EILENBURG' centred below the vignette.

备注

Eilenburg's 1921 Notgeld issue belongs to the dense wave of municipal emergency currency that flooded Germany as coin shortages persisted well into the early Weimar period. The Magistrat, like hundreds of other local authorities, filled the gap left by a mint system utterly unable to keep small denomination coinage in circulation — partly because the public was hoarding metal and partly because inflation was already eroding the incentive to release it.

The DeNG reference suffix ".2-6/6" indicates this is the sixth variant within a numbered subseries, suggesting the Magistrat issued multiple design iterations — not unusual for a municipality trying to deter counterfeiting or simply exhausting print runs.
