To the left, a pink panel bears the Gothic-script inscription naming the Städtische Sparkasse and the city of Stolp i. Pommern; to the right, a corresponding panel carries the denomination in Gothic lettering and the issuing place. The serial number and account designation 'Konto B' appear at the lower left and right respectively, with the printer's imprint along the bottom margin. |

Städtische Sparkasse Stolp was the municipal savings bank of Stolp, a mid-sized Pomeranian town that — like hundreds of German communities — resorted to issuing its own emergency fractional currency during the severe coin shortage that gripped Germany from 1916 onward. This type of locally-issued Kleingeldscheine filled the gap left by hoarded metal coinage, circulating only within the issuing municipality and redeemable in theory at the local savings bank counter.
Carl Flemming & T. C. Wiskott A.G. was based in Glogau, Silesia — not Poland, despite the modern administrative classification of that city as Głogów.
