The upper portion carries a two-line Gothic letterpress inscription referencing Generalfeldmarschall von Hindenburg and the planned Krieger-Gedenkstätte on the Leuchtenburg near Kahla, followed by a facsimile quotation in cursive script signed "von Hindenburg".
