Obverse description A central vignette enclosed within an ornate laurel wreath border presents a view of Lauchstädt's classical-era townscape with tall trees in the foreground and a neoclassical building behind, captioned "Lauchstedt zur Zeit der Klassiker". The denomination "50 Pfg." appears in large script at left and right, while a scroll at the top bears the issuing authority legend; below the wreath, the city arms are flanked by the place name "Lauchstedt" and date "1921" at lower left, and the issuing authority "Der Magistrat" with a facsimile signature at lower right. The overall colour scheme is warm ochre and amber on a light ground with a fine wave-pattern underprint.

Reverse description Two oval portrait medallions, each encircled by a laurel wreath, occupy the centre of the note side by side: the left medallion bears a bust of Luise Adelgunde Victorie Gottsched ("Gottschedin") and the right that of Johann Christoph Gottsched ("Gottsched"), both identified by name scrolls beneath their respective portraits. The denomination numeral "50" is repeated in each corner, and stylised wheat-ear vignettes fill the lateral margins. A header inscription reads "Berühmte Persönlichkeiten" and a footer inscription reads "Aus Lauchstedts klassischer Zeit", the whole printed in black and ochre on a pale ground with a light floral underprint.
