At lower centre, two manuscript signatures appear alongside the titles Bürgermeister and Ratschreiber, with a boxed validity clause at the foot stating the note expires three months after public notice of cancellation.

备注

Ettenheim is a small town in Baden, and like hundreds of similar municipalities across Germany, its Stadtkasse issued emergency paper fractions in 1917 as the wartime metal shortage stripped coinage from circulation. These Kleingeldscheine were a local administrative response, not a banking instrument — printed in limited runs, circulated hyperlocally, and typically redeemed and destroyed within a few years.

Survival rates for small-town Baden issues of this period are inconsistent. Rural municipalities often printed smaller quantities than their urban counterparts, and post-redemption destruction was thorough.
