Obverse description The obverse is printed in deep navy blue, green, and ochre on cream paper, with the heading 'Notschein der Stadt Lenzen Elbe' in bold Gothic script across the top dark band. The central vignette presents the town's heraldic shield — a crenellated gatehouse with flanking towers and a black eagle beneath — set within an ornate cartouche of scrolling foliage, while the denomination numeral '50' appears in large white figures within oval green medallions to either side. The lower panel carries a three-line historical inscription in Gothic lettering, with a facsimile signature on a cream panel flanked by the authority designations 'Der Magistrat' and 'Bürgermeister'.

Reverse description The reverse is printed in dark blue-black on a cream ground and carries a finely engraved landscape vignette of the Talmühle (valley mill) near Lenzen an der Elbe, showing the multi-storey stone mill building with a large water wheel at left, surrounded by trees and vegetation rendered in precise line-work. A decorative border of repeated leaf motifs frames the entire note, and the lower portion contains a four-line explanatory caption in Gothic script describing the mill's location above the Elbe opposite the historic site of the Kastell Hobocki from the time of Charlemagne.
