Eilenburg's 1921 Notgeld issue belongs to the second major wave of German municipal emergency currency — by this point most towns had already survived the wartime shortages and were now printing locally to address the chronic small-coin scarcity that persisted well into the early Weimar years. A. Dickert's involvement suggests local commission rather than one of the large specialist Notgeld printers, which is consistent with Eilenburg handling production in-house.
The town sits on the Mulde in Saxony, and its Notgeld series is relatively modest in scope compared to the elaborate collectible-oriented issues flooding the market from larger municipalities at the same time.
