| Opmerkingen |
Malchow is a small lake-district town in Mecklenburg, and like hundreds of German municipalities it turned to local notgeld during the chronic small-change shortage that persisted well beyond the First World War. The Sparkasse — a municipal savings bank, not a commercial institution — was an unusual issuing authority even by notgeld standards; most towns delegated that role to the mayor's office or the chamber of commerce.
Flemming & Wiskott in Glogau handled enormous volumes of provincial notgeld commissions in this period, which makes their output variable in ambition but generally reliable in execution.
