50 Pfennig

Neustettin — now Szczecinek in northwestern Poland — issued this emergency Pfennig note during the Weimar hyperinflationary spiral, when municipal authorities across Germany printed their own fractional currency to compensate for the chronic shortage of small-denomination Reichsbank coin. Adolf Forker of Leipzig was a minor commercial printer who handled a significant volume of this Kleingeldersatz work for smaller municipalities, though his output rarely achieved the elaborate chromolithographic ambitions of larger specialist houses.

The DeNG reference places this as the second of three variants within the 0968 series — subtle differences in serial number placement or paper stock typically distinguish them.
