Warin is a small town in Mecklenburg, and like hundreds of similarly sized German municipalities, it issued its own emergency paper currency — Notgeld — during the inflationary chaos of the early 1920s. The Stadt Warin series is notable primarily because it was designed by Richard Zschekev, a name associated with several artistically ambitious Mecklenburg Notgeld issues of the period. Whether Zschekev produced the printing plates locally or supplied artwork to a regional press isn't firmly established in the secondary literature.
The DeNG 1#1378.1a-5/9 reference suggests this is one of several denominations or variants within the Warin set — collectors should check sheet alignment and ink saturation carefully, as printing consistency across this series is uneven.
