Quedlinburg's 1922 Notgeld issue belongs to the final surge of German municipal emergency currency before the hyperinflation made small-denomination scrip irrelevant almost overnight. H. Meyerding was a local Quedlinburg printer — the kind of regional shop that handled the bulk of Germany's thousands of Notgeld commissions during this period, with no exportation of plates or design work to larger houses.
Fenzlau's involvement as designer places this squarely in the more considered end of the Notgeld spectrum, where municipalities treated the notes as a minor prestige exercise rather than a purely functional stopgap.
