To the upper left a text panel reads 'DEN VEREHRERN VON ILM ATHEN GEWIDMET', while denomination numerals '50' appear in ornamental cartouches at the lower left and upper right. Weimar's notgeld series of 1921 sits at the better-designed end of a phenomenon that had already become something of a collector's market in its own right — municipalities across Germany knew by this point that attractively printed emergency currency would be bought and held rather than spent, effectively functioning as a revenue stream. Arthur Kirchner in Erfurt was a competent regional offset shop that handled several Thuringian commissions during this period.
The DeNG reference suffix variants (.1 through .4) indicate sheet position differences, not separate issues — a distinction that trips up less experienced collectors of this series.
