| 正面描述 | Orange and black Notgeld note with a central winter landscape vignette set within a dark border, showing a group of skiers in the foreground watching a ski jumper in mid-flight against a backdrop of snow-covered village rooftops and fir trees. Denomination numerals '50' appear in the upper corners within orange panels, with 'Pfg.' lettered in the lower corners; snow-laden conifers flank the central scene on either side. The lower portion carries an invalidation clause in Gothic script alongside multiple handwritten facsimile signatures of the Gemeindevorstand, dated 1 August 1921. |

Neu-Astenberg is a small resort village in the Sauerland highlands of Westphalia, and its Notgeld issues from 1921 fall squarely into the collector-oriented phase of German emergency money — produced not from genuine payment necessity but to satisfy a voracious philatelic market that had developed by that point. Municipalities competed for sales through increasingly elaborate imagery, and the printing runs were often split into numbered series specifically to drive repeat purchases.
The DeNG reference places this within the standard Grabowski-Mehl notgeld catalog for German municipalities.
